Wheat Pregelatinized Starch is highly hygroscopic modified starch powder. Improper storage leads to moisture absorption from ambient air, triggering caking, viscosity decline, poor dispersibility, mildew and performance failure, which directly affects application outcomes. Therefore, standardized storage protocols covering environment, packaging, stacking and daily management must be strictly followed.
Regarding storage environment, select enclosed warehouses that are cool, dry, ventilated and clean. Outdoor storage is prohibited. Maintain warehouse relative humidity below 60% and eliminate ponding and wall dampness. Place moisture-proof pallets on the floor to prevent direct contact between starch and ground moisture. Room temperature can remain at normal ambient levels. Prolonged exposure to high temperature and sunlight accelerates molecular aging of starch, damages colloidal properties and weakens thickening and bonding effects. Meanwhile, keep it far from open flames, heat sources and boilers to avoid safety risks.
For packaging and sealing management, retain intact factory-sealed original packages, usually equipped with moisture-proof laminated layers to block moisture, dust and impurities. Avoid arbitrary opening or storing damaged packages. After opening, immediately seal remaining starch with cable ties or sealing machines, or transfer the powder into clean, dry sealed buckets and moisture-proof containers. Never leave packages open for extended periods, which allows continuous moisture ingress. Do not store together with strong acids, strong alkalis, corrosive materials or odorous goods to prevent odor absorption and chemical contamination that compromise safety for food and industrial use.

For stacking specifications, arrange goods neatly; store away from walls and floors with a clearance of no less than 10 cm to reserve ventilation gaps and stop moisture penetration from walls and ground. Avoid excessively high stacking to prevent compaction and caking of bottom layers and facilitate ventilation, moisture inspection and inventory checking. Separate products of different batches and specifications with clear labels for convenient access and stock management.
In inventory control, adhere to first-in, first-out and prioritize earlier stock to avoid long-term storage leading to quality degradation. Regularly inspect warehouse humidity and powder conditions. Lightly caked starch can be used normally after ventilation and loosening. Dispose of batches with mildew, peculiar odor or severe damp hardening and prohibit their use in production. Under proper hermetic storage conditions, Wheat Pregelatinized Starch enjoys a shelf life of 12 months. Standardized storage consistently preserves its core performance including cold-water solubility, thickening power and bonding strength.
